Sherman Locklear, 62, of 1763 West Blvd., formerly of Pembroke, was born Dec. 7, 1949, to the late Truss and Minne Locklear and departed this life on Nov. 15, 2012, at his residence.

The graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday with military rites at St. Anna Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery, the Revs. Dr. Mike Cummings and Willie Scott officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anna Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Locklear served in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He also was employed by the U.S. Postal Service

Locklear was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Locklear; a sister, Carlene L. Jones; four brothers, Eugene Locklear, Bradley Locklear, Broughton Locklear and Reasley Locklear.

Locklear leaves to cherish his memories his son, Timothy Locklear of Maxton; a daughter, Crista D. Oxendine of Charlotte; two sisters, Thelma Disharoon of Salsbury, Md., and Annette Bell of Pembroke; the mother of his children, Linda Woriax Rolan of Maxton; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at 987 WL Moore Road in Maxton.
