PEMBROKE— Robert William Jones, 66, of 1064 Whistling Rufus Road, was born in Robeson County on Sept. 11, 1946, to the late Thurman and Troley Jones and departed this life on Jan. 2, 2013, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Thompson Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Donald Bullard and Grady Chavis officiating. Burial will follow in Sandcutt Cemetery.

Jones served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a Vietnam veteran. He retired from Pilkington/LOF Glass Plant after many years of dedicated service. Robert was a farmer of cattle and swine and also loved to cook for his family and friends.

Jones leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Alceon Jones of the home; two daughters, Katherine J. Jones and Amy L. Bullard, both of Pembroke; three sons, Adrian W. Jones and Aaron L. Jones, both of Pembroke, and Alan R. Jones of the home; three brothers, Thurman Jones Jr. and wife Nora of Pembroke, Lara D. Jones of Lumberton, and Bobby D. Jones of Wake Forest; two sisters, Yvonne Locklear and husband Leo of Pembroke, and Eva M. Locklear and husband Wallace of Maxton; nine grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
