Shirley Oxendine

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. — Shirley Oxendine, 77, of West Columbia, S.C., widow of Zeb Oxendine, passed away Jan. 22, 2013.

The funeral for Shirley Jacobs Oxendine will be 3 p.m. Friday at The Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, the Revs. John O’Cain and Herb Gladden officiating. Interment will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park.

Born in Fairmont, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Johnny and Hattie Jacobs.

She was an active member of Lake Murray Baptist Church and was retired from Shakespeare after 20 years of service. Oxendine was a loving mother and grandmother.

Oxendine was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Kenny Oxendine; her brother, Bobby Ray Jacobs; and a sister, Avie Oxendine.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon Faye Oxendine of Fletcher, N.C.; her sons, Alan Oxendine (Gay) of Anderson, S.C., and Glenn Oxendine (Sharon) of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Ella Mae Hunt of Lumberton, N.C.; a brother, Johnny Jacobs Jr. of Lumberton, N.C.; her grandchildren, Jessica Brown (John), Corey Oxendine, Brooke Oxendine, Adam Oxendine (Ashley), Breann Oxendine and Callie Bell; and her great-grandchildren, Lyla Brown and Elizabeth McKenzie Oxendine.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
