LUMBERTON — Idell Virgie Walters, 91, of Lumberton, formerly of Fayetteville, died Feb. 3, 2013, in the Golden Living Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the LaFayette Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Fayetteville, the Rev. Brian Woodall presiding.

Walters was retired from civil service after a career which spanned time in both Japan and Fort Bragg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lillie Mae and John Walters; three sisters, Irene, Lula Mae, and Betty Joyce; and three brothers, Johnny, Richard and Jasper.

She is survived by her brother, Dupree V. Walters of North Port, Fla.; and three sisters, Joanna Musselwhite of St. Pauls, Elouise Walters of Wilmington, and Drucella W. West of Lumberton.

The family will receive friends following the service.

The family asks that memorials be made to either Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., Seventh Floor, New York City, 10001, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, Okla., 73123-1718.
