Grady P. Childers

TAYLORSVILLE — Grady P. Childers, 81, of Callaway Drive, Taylorsville, died Feb. 7, 2013, at Gordon Hospice House.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, the Revs. Brian Eades and Buster Treadaway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born on Dec. 19, 1931, in Alexander County to the late Quince F. Childers and Clergy Blankenship Childers.

He had been a member of Mount Nebo Baptist Church for 20 years. He was retired owner/operator of Archer Trim Inc. He was a U.S. Air Force Korean Conflict veteran of four years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Janet Lynne Childers; three sisters, Marie Childers Mecimore, Eloise Childers Lambert and Nadeen Childers Eagle; and a brother, Quez Childers.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Neely Phyllis Warren Childers of the home; two sons, David K. (Erica Danak-Childers) of Hoke County and Grady P. Childers Jr. “Buddy” of Taylorsville; and a sister, Margie Childers Miller of Scotts.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Adams Funeral Home.
