PEMBROKE — Tim Brooks has been appointed to the board of trustees of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke.

Brooks was sworn in on Jan. 25 and is filling an unexpired term on the board that ends on June 30. Brooks is president of HealthKeeperz Inc., an integrated community and home-based health care company headquartered in Pembroke.

He was appointed by Gov. Beverly Perdue before she left that office.

“Tim and the entire Brooks family have a strong commitment to UNC Pembroke and our community,” Chancellor Kyle R. Carter said. “We welcome him to the board of trustees and look forward to having his business expertise as part of our board.”

Brooks is a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill, where he majored in public health. He is active in his church and the local community, serving on First Bank’s Pembroke community board of directors.

“I am pleased to join the board of trustees and continue contributing to the success of the university and its students,” Brooks said.

A Pembroke native, Brooks will give up his seat on UNCP’s Foundation board of directors, where he had served three years and was its secretary. The UNCP Foundation is an independent, non-profit that raises, administers and distributes private contributions to the university.
