William Scott
PEMBROKE — William Archie Scott, 82, of 32 Welton Drive, was born June 23, 1930, and departed this life on Feb. 14, 2013.
The funeral will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Union Chapel Community Church in Pembroke, the Revs. Jimmy Strickland and Crites Oxendine officiating. Burial will follow in the Locklear family cemetery.
Scott was a leading founder of the Burnt Swamp and Philadelphus Fire Department, where he served as president for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Rollie Scott; a grandson, Eric Scott; two brothers, Bobby Scott and Franklin Scott; and two sisters, Doris and Ruth.
Scott is survived by his wife of 65 years, Luellen Scott; five sons, Glonnie (Ramona), Dowry (Judy), Willie (Bobbie), Archie Dean (Nancy), all of Pembroke, and Jeffery of the home; three daughters, Bonnie (Harold), Frances (Terry), and Barbara, all of Pembroke; 17 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a very dear friend to the family, Jerry Woodell.
The family will be receiving friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Mission Church.
Services entrusted to Revels Funeral Home in Pembroke.
