Everyone has a passion for something. Maybe your passion is gardening, crafting or collecting model trains. Whatever it is, that’s what you geek.
The Robeson County Public Library is taking part in Geek the Library, a community-based public awareness campaign. This campaign is designed to get people talking about their interests and to show that the library supports them all. We will kick off the campaign this Saturday at the Rumba on the Lumber. Please visit our table, share what you geek, and pick up some information about role of libraries in the community.
Our libraries are vital to the communities in Robeson County and we want everyone to know it. Library staff members are helping workers download their W2 forms from company web sites, providing computer access for online education, and helping children complete their homework assignments. We have also purchased career resource collections for every library in the county.
Your public libraries provide transformational support for members of the community. The library helps people discover new opportunities, reeducate themselves, realize their dreams and transform their lives. Over the next 12 months, the Robeson County Public Libraries will be bringing Geek the Library to community events throughout the county. Look for the Geek the Library campaign, take a few minutes to share what you geek and learn about issues facing our libraries.
Vibrina Coronado will present information and a demonstration of Tai Chi in the Osterneck Auditorium on March 9 at 10 a.m. More information is available on our website. The event is free and open to the public. No registration is necessary.
To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, the library is holding a limerick contest throughout the month of March. You can submit your limericks at any library in the county or send them to the email to croche@robesoncountylibrary.org . Please put the word ‘limerick’ in the subject line. Submissions must be appropriate for all ages. We will award prizes and the best limericks will be featured on the web and included in this weekly column.
