LUMBERTON — A second man has been charged with multiple crimes in an arson that destroyed 28 storage units at a Lumberton business in January.
According to Lt. Brian Duckworth of the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office, Jeremiah Jermaine Weaver, 27, of Hemingway, S.C., was charged on Wednesday with 11 counts of burning personal property; trespassing and damaging personal property; three counts of felony breaking and entering; three counts of felony larceny; three counts of damage to property; five counts of misdemeanor breaking and entering; five counts damage to personal property; and burning a certain building.
Robeson County officials had been waiting for Weaver, who had been in a South Carolina jail, to come to Robeson County to charge him with the crimes. Weaver’s bond was set at $194,500.
Jonathan Brooks Pressley, 31, also of Hemingway, is also charged with the fire at Noble Storage, at 1600 Starlite Drive, that caused at least $65,000 worth of damages.
Pressley was arrested on Jan. 26 after investigators found stolen property at his girlfriend’s apartment complex and in the trunk of a vehicle that was linked to him. Lawmen said they followed a trail of stolen items from the business to the apartment complex.
