When Michael Joseph Jackson first sang “I Want You Back,” the young boy of 11 years made his impression on the music world. Jackson’s talent continued its reveal through his years with his brothers in the Jackson 5 and arguably the world’s greatest solo career of a performing musical artist. Jackson would go on to set and break sales records, influence an entire generation of musicians and set trends for an entire nation.

Jackson’s every move was scrutinized and analyzed.
His meteoric rise and an equally devastating fall in nearly five decades of music is why The Robesonian recognizes Jackson for what would have been the weekend of his 51st birthday as the King of Pop.
