To the Editor,

This is about the recent fire on Charles Street. The fire department did a good job. But one hero left before firefighters arrived.

I was watching the race and my son Brandon Hill was in the yard when he saw smoke and ran in our house. He asked me if I thought the smoke was from a grill, and I said no, that place is on fire.

I called 911 and he ran into the burning home with his dog; her name is Smoke. He and Smoke went in there and went upstairs and got a lady out.

The smoke was so thick all he could see was her legs. He and Smoke brought her out. He ran to the other apartments and alerted other people that the house was on fire.

I am so proud of him and that dog.
