Auditions can be one of the most stressful things ever. You get one chance to prove yourself. This glimpse determines your future. It displays your skill level and is the deciding factor as to whether one believes you have what it takes. The Audition is a summary of all your skills and experiences defined in this one presentation. This can put knots in anyone's stomach.

I recently had an audition in Atlanta, Georgia that left some members of my team a little up set. The audition was in front of a live audience who connected and appreciated the presentation but the judges disliked and called the performance amateur. They said some things I did not agree with but I stood there and smiled because I know true legends made their way and did not have contests to grant them instant popularity and success.

Until that audition I never heard of the judges so their opinions carry little weight with me. Was going to name names and go in but I am better then that. After this experience I wanted to publicly blast the judges for their comments because I was a little upset (which is Natural) then I realized I wanted to write some words of encouragement. These moments make us better. Although uncomfortable these are the events that propel us into our destiny. I know everybody has an opinion and this moment further affirmed not everyone will be in our favor. I say continue to perfect your gifts and when you are ready God will provide the platform in the right season. His thoughts are not our thoughts so even though we think we know whats best his perspective is different.

At the event I made some connects and got an offer to come back down and bring the whole band. Someone got it- so I am good. I want to thank my Wife who feels what I feel- she loves and supports me. She pushes me to be all God would have me to be. I wish I could have took a picture of her face when the judges started their spill (They went in hard on all the contestants even told one guy his jacket was too shiny!).

I don't think the audition thing is for me but I am willing to put myself in un-comfortable positions if that is what it takes. I promise you I will continue to create and perform music that brings out the best in us all! Solo Project Coming Soon!

Never Complacent,

David Spencer
