Nettie Locklear, 94, of 4476 Oak School Road, was born April. 23, 1918, to the late Walter J. Locklear and Flora Bowen Locklear and departed this life on Nov. 3, 2012, at Morrison Manor.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Good News Chapel, the Bros. Charles Oxendine, Steve Locklear and Paul Jolicoeur officiating. Burial will follow in Good News Chapel Cemetery.

In addition to her parents, Locklear was preceded in death by her son, David Allister Locklear; a great-grandson, Benjamin Locklear; three brothers, Leroy Locklear, Walter J. Locklear, and Albert Bowen; a sister, Clara Smith; and a son-in-law, Michael Allen.

Locklear leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Charles Everett Locklear(Meriel) of Laurinburg; two daughters, Annie Jane Allen of Laurinburg and Alene L. Smith(Chick) of Orangeburg, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Josephine Locklear; a sister-in-law, Mary Bowen; a special niece, Norma Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at Good News Chapel.

Colleen Hester Ehrlich, 80, of 1100 Commons Blvd., passed away Nov. 2, 2012, at her residence after a sudden illness.

A private ceremony is planned on the beach at sunrise at a later date.

She is survived by three sons; two daughters; and three granddaughters.

Rogers Morice Sr.

CMSgt. Rogers Vernon Morice, Sr., 86, of Lumberton, passed away Oct. 29, 2012, at Fayetteville VA Medical Center.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton. Burial will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sandhills State Veterans Cemetery in Spring Lake, N.C.

He was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Oct. 6, 1926, to the late Robert Morice and the late Freda Meyer Morice. He proudly served his country for 30 years in the Navy and the US Air Force.

Morice is survived by his wife, Evelyn Oxendine Morice of the home; two sons, Rogers Vernon Morice Jr. and wife Lynn of St. Louis, Mo., and Richard “Dick” Morice of Cibolo, Texas; a daughter, Michele “Shell” Morice of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Robert “Bud” Morice of Wildwood, Mo.; a sister, Jackie Morice of Florrisant, Mo.; and two grandchildren, Jourdanne Morice and Richard Morice Jr.

A time of visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc., 809 E. Fifth St., Lumberton.

Freda Lee Monroe, 89, of Lumberton, passed away Nov. 3, 2012, at Woodhaven Nursing Center.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at Biggs Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Charles Brust officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

Monroe was preceded in death by her husband J.F. (Jodie) Monroe; a son, Joe Guylon Monroe; her parents, John Henry and Record Burchette Lee; and three siblings, Margizelle Lee Pitman, Sylvia Dean Lee Andrews, and Edward Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her grandson, Joe Guylon Monroe II and his wife Lisa; two great-grandchildren, Jordan Tyler Monroe and Morgan Elizabeth Monroe; former daughter-in-law, Barbara Hasty; and a special nephew, Tony Monroe and his wife Mary.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Biggs Funeral Home in Lumberton, and other times at the home, 260 John Henry Lee Road in Lumberton.

Surviving are a son, Martin Howell of St. Pauls; and a daughter, Sharon Nealy of Lumberton; and a step-sister, Norma Smith of New York.

She is survived by two daughters, Tammy C. Locklear and Carolyn Sealey, both of Lumberton; a brother, Gary Camp of New Jersey; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
