Earl C. Rankin
CHARLOTTE — Earl C. Rankin, 84, of Charlotte, died Feb. 12, 2013, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Friday at Wilson Funeral and Cremation Service, 5301 Albemarle Road, Charlotte, the Rev. Sarah Kalish officiating. Entombment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park Mausoleum.
A native of Ellerbe, Rankin was born to the late Jesse Rankin and Rosa Hart Rankin on Sept. 5, 1928. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church. Rankin worked for Homelite Chainsaw of Charlotte for years, then retired as owner of Monroe Chainsaw in Monroe.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Agnes Rankin.
Rankin is survived by his sister, Nancy Smith of Rockingham; a granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Crum of Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
