David Simpson

LUMBERTON — David Lee Simpson, 70, of Lumberton, died Feb. 16, 2013, at the UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Floyd Memorial Chapel in Lumberton, the Rev. Henry C. Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in the Gardens of Faith Cemetery in Lumberton.

He was born in Cedartown, Ga., on Sept. 17, 1942, to the late James L. Simpson and the late Laura Price Simpson. He previously worked as a steelworker.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Robert, Jim, Gene, Raymond, and James; and three sisters, Maurine Henson, Betty Ruth Cole, and Madelyn DeGenarro.

Simpson is survived by a sister, Laura Joyce Bruce of Lumberton and several nephews and nieces.

The visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory Inc., 809 E. Fifth St. in Lumberton.
