PEMBROKE — Christine Carter Locklear, 76, of 465 Lonnie Farm Road, was born Dec. 17, 1936, to the late John L. and Mary E. Carter and made her heavenly journey home on March 9, 2013.

The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Airy Baptist Church, the Rev. Steve Strickland officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Airy Church Cemetery.

Christine will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She dedicated her life to raising and providing for her three sons. She was a teacher for three years at Prospect School and she worked in the Accounting Office at Pembroke State University for 28 years. Christine was instrumental in the development of the family company, Lonnie Locklear Jr. & Sons where she served as the office manager for 14 years before retirement. She will be forever loved and missed by her family, until we are forever reunited in Heaven.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John Louis Carter.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 55 years, Lonnie Locklear Jr.; three sons, Kelly Lorenzo Locklear, Trent Andre’ Locklear (Debra) and Maurice Pierre Locklear (Kelly Sue); 10 grandchildren; a great-grandchild and one on the way; five sisters, Adrene C. Locklear, Mazalene C. Dusan, Regina C. Locklear, Delores C. Jones and Olene C. Sampson; two brothers, Truex Vail Carter and Lex Anderson Carter.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Locklear & Son Funeral Home.
