PEMBROKE — Arianna is on her way to Robeson County, the guest of The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, as part of its popular Distinguished Speaker Series.
Syndicated columnist and author Arianna Huffington kicks off the series with her visit to the campus at 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Givens Performing Arts Center.
Huffington is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post, a nationally syndicated columnist, and author of 11 books. She is also co-host of “Left, Right & Center,” public radio’s popular political roundtable program.
Huffington, once a conservative, has done a flip-flop, and now supports liberal causes.
Tickets for all Speaker Series events are $10 for the general public, $5 for faculty and staff and free for UNCP students. Seating is general admission, but reservations are recommended. To order tickets, contact the Box Office at (910) 521-6361 or 1-800-367-0778.
In May 2005, Huffington launched The Huffington Post, a news and blog site that has quickly become one of the most widely read, linked to, and frequently-cited media brands on the Internet.
In 2006, she was named to Time Magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people.
