LUMBERTON — The Robeson Community College Foundation was recently given a $20,000 check from the Robert P. Holding Foundation, and was presented by First Citizens Bank.
This is the second donation that Robeson Community College has received from the organization. Last year the college received $30,000, bringing the total for the First Citizens Bank Endowed Scholarship to $50,000.
The endowment was established by the Robert P. Holding Foundation to support the programs of the North Carolina Community College System and to help provide scholarships to students in need to promote the education and welfare of the people of North Carolina.
Robeson Community College offers more than 80 programs of study leading to an associate degree, diploma or certificate which provide opportunities for academic, technical, and lifelong learning in a collaborative culture dedicated to inquiry, results, and excellence, allowing students an opportunity to receive a quality education which provides the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve their dreams.
“Robeson Community College is so grateful for organizations such as the Robert P. Holding Foundation which understand the value of what we do in training the workforce and preparing students in high-demand fields that are relevant to the job sector,” RCC President Melissa Singler said. “This gift will help transform lives and change the trajectory of families throughout Robeson County and beyond and we are so honored to have the continued support of the Robert P. Holding Foundation and First Citizens Bank.”
Lisa Hunt, the assistant vice president of grants and foundation echoes those sentiments.
“This gift will make a difference in the lives of many students at RCC as they pursue an education,” Hunt said. “We thank the Robert P. Holding Foundation and First Citizens Bank for their generosity and commitment to RCC and the North Carolina Community College System.”
