ROWLAND — A Fairmont man has been charged with robbing a Rowland Family Dollar store earlier this month.

Frank Giles McCree III was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of kidnapping and possession of a firearm by a felon.

According to the Rowland Police Chief John Reaves, the June 8 robbery was one of several at Robeson County Family Dollar locations, and more charges are likely to be filed.

McCree is accused of entering the West Main Street store at about 9 p.m. and demanding money. He left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to Reaves. Two employees and a customer were in the store at the time, but they were unharmed.

Reaves said the Rowland Police Department is working with other local law enforcement agencies to investigate the string of robberies.

McCree, 29, of Madison Street, was jailed Wednesday night under a $60,000 bond.
