LUMBERTON — The Lumberton Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a man who robbed a Dollar General store on Wednesday, firing a shot into the air before leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man went into the North Roberts Avenue store at about 9:37 p.m. on Wednesday, according to a statement from the department.

“The male subject then allowed several customers to check out in front of him,” the statement said. “After the customers left the store he brandished a handgun and robbed the store of an undisclosed amount of money. Before leaving the store the suspect fired one shot into the air but no one was injured.”

The department is circulating several surveillance images of the man in the store. He appears to be an American Indian, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighing about 250 pounds. He is approximately 25 to 30 years old and has long brown hair.

Anyone with information should call Detective Blake Harrell at the Lumberton Police Department 910-671-3845.
