PEMBROKE — The University of North Carolina at Pembroke’s annual Pembroke Day celebration has been postponed for a week because of the threat of heavy rain.

The event had been scheduled for Wednesday. It will now be held Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the University Quad.

UNCP has partnered with the town of Pembroke to sponsor the event since 1989.

Nearly 180 vendors, including 46 student clubs and organizations, registered for the event. The Quad, between Old Main and the Mary Livermore Library, will be lined with informational booths, food vendors, crafts and promotional giveaways.

Student Health Services will coordinate a Health Fair, which will include free health screenings.

The Music Department will provide entertainment with performances by the Pembroke Singers, the Spirit of the Carolinas Marching Band, and the University Chorale. Miss UNCP Madison Davenport is a scheduled to perform, along with the Lumbee Ambassadors and Southern Sun.
