FAIRMONT — The Fairmont Farmers Festival, which had been scheduled for Oct. 15 but was postponed because of the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew, will now be held Nov 12.

The 30th annual festival kicks off with a parade at 10 a.m. with Michael Baker, a longtime educator and coach at Fairmont High, serving as grand marshal and Miss North Carolina McKenzie Faggart expected to ride along.

There will be food, crafts and entertainment throughout the day at the Fairmont Community Park, and the Classic Soul Band featuring Terri Gore will perform for free from 8 to 11 p.m. at Fairmont Golf Course.

The pageant for the event was held Saturday.
