LUMBERTON — A Christma tree-lighting ceremony will be held tonight at the plaza in downtown Lumberton, and fun will follow for three more hours.

There will be free horse and carriage rides, tractor hay rides, hot cocoa and cookies until 9 p.m. Hot dogs will be available for purchase.

It will be just one of several events throughout the county this weekend as individual towns continue to welcome the holidays with festivities.

In Fairmont tonight, there will be a tree-lighting ceremony in the Community Park followed by Fairmont’s Twilight Christmas Parade. Entertainment will be provided at the Fairmont Heritage Center at 7:30 p.m.

There will be Christmas parades on Saturday in Marietta at 11 a.m., in St. Pauls at 3 p.m and in Red Springs on Dec. 10 at 3 p.m.
