LUMBERTON — The four Robeson County commissioners re-elected in November will be sworn-in for four-year terms when the board meets Monday for its only regularly scheduled meeting in December.

Those taking the oath of office will be Jerry Stephens, District 1, a member of the board since 2007 and its current chairman; Raymond Cummings, District 5, a commissioner since 1996; Roger Oxendine, District 3, a board member since 2006; and Tom Taylor, District 7, who has served as a commissioner since 2000.

Only Cummings had a Republican challenger, Lynn Locklear, in the General Election on Nov. 8.

Following the swearing-in of the four newly re-elected commissioners, the eight commissioners will elect the board’s chairman and vice chairman for the coming year.

According to the meeting agenda, five public hearings will be held. These include hearings for a conditional-use permit that will allow the establishment of a towing and wrecker service in Orrum; a conditional-use permit that will allow the establishment of a towing and wrecker service with storage of vehicles in Pembroke; a request for a conditional-use permit that will allow for the establishment of a training and exercise gym in West Howellsville; a conditional-use permit that will allow for the establishment of a beauty shop in Gaddys; and a conditional-use permit that will allow for the establishment of a family cemetery in Alfordsville.

The commissioners on Monday will also:
