Josephine Locklear, 47, of 361 Jeff Road, Red Springs, died Saturday, April 29, 2006, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at South Hoke Baptist Church. The Revs. Ernest Goins and Steve Hayes officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, Nekia Baldwin of Red Springs and Ciji Jo Manzano of Statesville; five brothers, Pernell Locklear, Ferman Locklear and Donald Locklear, all of Red Springs, Herbert Locklear of Shannon and Joseph Locklear of Lumberton; three sisters, Mable Winiger of Indiana, Learie Lowery of Wagram and Pauline Youngblood of Raeford; and four grandchildren.
Dorothy B. Armstrong
Ms. Dorothy B. “Dot” Armstrong, 81, of Red Springs, died Wednesday, May 3, 2006, in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, May 4, 2006, in Boles Funeral Home Chapel in Red Springs. Burial followed in Alloway Cemetery.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Fields of Red Springs and Linda Gibson of Jacksonville; two sisters, Edith Turlington of Hope Mills and Rosalee Outlaw of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Reedy Thomas
Mrs. Reedy Thomas, 45, of 425 Millionaire Road, St. Pauls, died Thursday, May 4, 2006, in Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, May 7, 2006, at Rock Assembly of God in Red Springs. The Revs. Wallace Locklear and Roy Clark officiated. Burial followed in Collins Chapel Cemetery in Lumber Bridge.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie James Thomas; two sons, Jacob Bullard and Eddie S. Thomas; daughter, Reba L.Thomas; a brother, Kirby Locklear; and six sisters, Mary Locklear, Judy Locklear, Glenda Collins, Sheryl Jacobs, Veronda Bullard and Ashleen Bullard.
Anna L. Walters
Anna L. Walters, 80, of McMillan Road, Maxton, died Friday, May 5, 2006, at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, May 8, 2006, at Sycamore Hill Independent Holiness Church. The Revs. Billy Clark, Floyd Hunt and Joe Locklear officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Surviving are two brothers, Curtis Locklear of Red Springs and Alex Locklear of Maxton; and a sister, Savannah Barton, of Lumberton.
Gertice Lurtica Hill
Gertice Lurtica Hill, Cameron, N.C., died on Wednesday, May 3, 2006.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, May 7, 2006, at St. Mary CPH Church in Red Springs. Pastor Bishop George McKoy officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was born in Pinehurst, N.C., on November 15, 1940, to the late Curtis Caldwell and Fonnie Caviness Caldwell.
She received her education in the Southern Pines school system. She married Curtis Locklear and had five children.
Evangelist Hill’s Christian experience began at an early age under the guidance of her grandmother, Mary “Augusta” Harris Caviness whom she called “Ma”. In 2002, she was called to the ministry and was a devoted member of St. Mary CPH Church.
Hill was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Caldwell.
She is survived by her husband, Minister Carl Hill; her mother, Fonnie Caldwell of Bronx, N.Y.; a stepmother, Alice Caldwell of Southern Pines; five children, Clifton D. Locklear and Julie White of Oak Grove, Ky., Sonya Locklear of Vass, N.C., Monica Locklear of Southern Pines, Kenneth Locklear of Aberdeen, N.C.; one sister, Janet McSwain of Southern Pines; three brothers, Adrea Caldwell of Southern Pines, Ron McGregor of White Plains, N.Y., and Curtis Caldwell of Virginia; four sister-in-laws, Dalphia McGregor of White Plains, Edy Caldwell of Virginia, Edna Hill and Rachel Ross, both of Aberdeen; four brother-in-laws, Donnie McSwain of Southern Pines, Franklin Atkins and Brady Hill, both of Aberdeen, and Calvin Hill of Pittsboro, Pa.; in-laws, John Wesley and Janie Hill, both of Aberdeen, William and Mamie Ruth Hammond of Addor, N.C.; eight grandchildren, Rodney, Shaquon, Jaquon, Curtis, Christopher, and Candace, all of Oak Grove, Zakeeah Graham of Pinebluff, N.C., Aaron Drakeford of Southern Pines; one great-grandson, Rhakyle Cooper of Kentucky and a host of cousins, relatives and friends.
David Dean Locklear
Mr. David Dean Locklear, 29, of Red Springs, died Saturday, May 6, 2006, in Robeson County, N.C.
Funeral services were conducted today, May 10, 2006, at the New Jerusalem Holiness Church. The Revs. Ronald Locklear, Bill Brayboy and Ricky Pevia officiated. Burial followed in the Cherokee Chapel Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lewis and Zelma Locklear; his maternal great-grandmother, Ruthie C. Locklear; and his paternal grandfather, Nash Locklear.
He is survived by his parents, Jimmy Dean Locklear and Deborah Locklear, of Maxton; one sister, Bridget Locklear of Lumberton; one daughter, Morgan Danielle Locklear of Pembroke; and his paternal grandmother, Sarah B. Locklear of Red Springs.
